It is never too late to learn how to swim!!!

“One of my greatest regrets was never learning to swim, although I made sure my children took lessons and were very good swimmers. I kept putting it off, I always felt that I was missing out on so much.”

When I first met Anne, these were her words.

Despite being incredibly nervous, Anne decided that she was going to go for it once and for all. We had a chat to discuss Annes’ goals which were :

  • To learn a new very important life skill
  • To feel safe and comfortable in the water
  • To swim for fitness

Off to the pool we went. We worked on overcoming her fear of putting her face in the water and then floating, using tried and tested techniques that I have been using for over 30 years. Seemingly simple actions that many of us take for granted in the pool can be a major achievement in a lesson for some, being able to regain a standing position if you are floating or if you lose your footing in the pool.

Over the weeks and months that followed Anne consistently showed up for her lessons and was diligent in her own practice sessions. We worked together on the skills needed to become a proficient swimmer and Anne discovered that she is in fact a true water lover.

Anne is now a regular in the pool and enjoys swim sessions and Aquatic Fitness Classes.

You are never too old to learn how to swim.
